I like the information wave idea. Using the term "wavefront" implies a continuous and dynamic expansion of information, akin to how a wavefront spreads outward. In this metaphor, the "information" refers to genetic material, traits, behaviors, or any other factors that contribute to the survival and reproduction of organisms. I like the emphasis on how obstacles and opportunities in the environment affect this wave.

You could make the case this metaphor is better than the "tree of life" metaphor because a wave of liquid can come back together again. This happens in real life in certain situations when two separate species start interbreeding again, e.g. humans and neanderthals back in the day.
